2009 PCR Team Update

2009 has been a year the Phillip-Clarke racing Team would rather forget, but things are on the improve.

After a successful rally career owner driver Warren Phillip-Clarke made the decision to change from the Forest to the race track.

Warren a Health and safety coordinator and part time driving Instructor for Driver Skills Australia had early success with regular top 10 finishes in the WA Rally Championship and a class win in the 2006 ARC Forrest Rally, until financial and family commitments forced the change.

With almost instant success a third place finish in the first round entered turned into a nightmare with engine failures hampering the rest of the season, then as if by divine intervention warren suffered a knee injury whilst training and it has almost ruled him out for the entire 2009 season.

This has been somewhat of a blessing in disguise. The teams Subaru Legacy has been converted from Rally PRC spec to Improved Production Racing Category specification, the time off has allowed for a full engine rebuild and several new “Go Fast bits” to be added to the package.

Now the team is concentrating on getting the package sorted for the IPRA nationals to be held in Western Australia at Barbegallo Raceway next year.

With the car currently being refined and tuned by the team from Maximum Motorsport Warren is concentrating on getting over his injury and back to full fitness to make a return for the final two rounds of the WA Improved production Championship and an appearance in the Australian Tarmac Challenge.

“Fingers crossed I’ll be back sooner rather than later”, Warren said. “ It was a big knee injury and I have made good progress lately, I go out once a week and try to get into the car, as soon as I can we’ll be back on track, I can see now why the AFL guys write off the season with these things”.

“The car will be totally different to drive now, a new engine, turbo and a different size wheel and tire package should move us up the field a bit, there are a few fast guys on the track but with some tips I have squeezed from some of the fast guys I’ll be up there in their mirrors have a good hard go”, He said.
